The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is an apex body set up jointly by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and various export promotion councils.
It represents the interests of Indian exporters and helps them connect with global markets.
To start or continue an export business in India, exporters must obtain a Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) from the relevant Export Promotion Council — and for multi-product exporters or those not covered under any specific council, registration with FIEO is mandatory.
FIEO acts as a bridge between Indian exporters and the government, offering valuable insights, export benefits, and international trade support.
The FIEO RCMC serves as a recognition for exporters under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) of India.
It enables exporters to:
1. Avail government incentives and duty benefits.
2. Participate in international trade fairs, exhibitions, and buyer-seller meets.
3. Access export data, policy updates, and market intelligence reports.
4. Establish credibility as a government-recognized exporter.
You need FIEO RCMC if you are:
1. An exporter dealing in multiple products not covered under a specific Export Promotion Council.
2. A merchant exporter trading in diversified product lines.
3. A manufacturer exporter engaged in cross-sector exports.
4. An exporter seeking MEIS/SEIS benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.
If your export product category is not listed under any particular council, FIEO becomes your default registering authority for RCMC.
1. Legal Recognition: Recognized as a registered exporter under the Government of India.
2. Export Incentives: Eligibility to claim benefits under FTP like MEIS, RoDTEP, etc.
3. Global Trade Access: Participation in international trade delegations and expos.
4. Market Intelligence: Access to valuable export data, buyer lists, and trade updates.
5. Training & Capacity Building: Regular workshops and training programs for exporters.
6. Representation: FIEO represents exporters’ issues to government authorities for quick redressal.
To obtain FIEO RCMC, you’ll need the following documents:
1. Copy of IEC (Import Export Code) issued by DGFT
2. PAN card of the firm or company
3. Bank certificate or cancelled cheque
4. Company registration documents (LLP/Private Limited/Partnership)
5. MOA & AOA / Partnership deed / LLP agreement
6. Address proof of the registered office
7. GST certificate
8. Email ID and mobile number of authorized person
The FIEO RCMC is valid for five (5) years from the date of issue and must be renewed upon expiry.
