The Central Silk Board (CSB), established under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is responsible for the development and promotion of the silk industry in India.
Exporters dealing in silk and silk-based products must register with the Central Silk Board and obtain a Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) to engage in export activities legally.
This registration is a mandatory requirement under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) for exporters to avail government incentives, schemes, and participate in global trade opportunities.
The main objective of Silk Board RCMC is to:
1. Promote and regulate the export of silk and silk-related products.
2. Ensure quality and standardization for international silk trade.
3. Support exporters through training, guidance, and marketing assistance.
4. Facilitate participation in international exhibitions and trade fairs.
5. Strengthen India’s position as one of the world’s top silk exporters.
The Silk Board RCMC is mandatory for businesses exporting:
1. Raw silk and silk yarn
2. Natural silk fabrics and garments
3. Silk carpets, scarves, and accessories
4. Blended silk textile products
5. Silk waste and spun silk yarn
6. Silk-based home décor and handicrafts
If your company exports any of these products, you must obtain an RCMC from the Central Silk Board.
1. Official Export Recognition: Legally recognized exporter under the Government of India.
2. Export Incentives: Eligibility for schemes under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP).
3. Trade Promotion: Opportunity to participate in global silk trade fairs and buyer-seller meets.
4. Quality Assistance: Guidance on maintaining export-quality standards.
5. Market Access: Access to export data, market trends, and global buyer networks.
6. Government Support: Priority in promotional programs and financial assistance schemes.
To apply for registration, the following documents are required:
1. Import Export Code (IEC) issued by DGFT
2. PAN card of the business entity
3. Company registration documents (LLP/Private Limited/Partnership)
4. MOA & AOA / Partnership deed / LLP agreement
